Story by Jordan Baker
The National Campus Leadership Council invites student body presidents to the 9th annual Presidential Leadership Summit (PLS), taking place on June 5-8, 2020, in Washington, DC.
NCLC is the leading association for student body presidents and students that aspire to be student body presidents. NCLC’s core leadership curriculum at PLS includes media training, project management, coalition building, fundraising, and cultural competence. Sessions are interactive and led by expert practitioners from our partners, including some of the country’s top consulting firms. Here is what you need to know about the program and this year’s event!
PLS empowers student body presidents to build a national community equipped with the skills and expertise needed to elevate the student voice in America. The three-day program includes a sweeping offering of policy discussions, expert briefings, skills workshops, and networking opportunities.
At PLS 2020, students will gain relationships and inspiration that will enable them to be more effective advocates. PLS has historically included a policy briefing and breakout sessions at the White House with the President’s top advisors, Domestic Policy Council policy experts, and U.S. Department of Education officials. PLS 2020 will return with the Pre-conference program for newly elected SGA presidents to develop policy specialization ahead of the full PLS activities, the Campus Legacy Awards ceremony honoring current and former student leaders, and the Hill Day event for student leaders to meet with lawmakers.
